How to Maintain Good Health in Rainy Season?

The first shower brings happiness and joy amongst all of us. The relief from scorching heat makes us dance in rains. Kids love to play in rains, enjoying making paper boats, splashing water on their friends and so on. Along with all the joy, rains also bring some health issues such as food poisoning, diarrhoea, cold, cough, fever, allergies etc. Hence it becomes necessary to improve kid’s immunity and prevent them from infections especially cold and cough.

1. Avoid Unfiltered Water

Most of the time during rains, drinking water gets contaminated. During this season, waterborne infections are very common among kids. Make sure you give your child filtered or boiled water to drink. Also, whenever they go out to play, giving them a bottle of water is always a good choice to prevent them from having unfiltered water.

2. Avoid Eating Raw, Unwashed Foods

Avoid eating food from unhygienic places as they can cause stomach upset and infections. Avoid uncooked or undercooked meats to prevent infections. Cut your fruits, vegetables just prior to eating. It is always a good option to avoid chutney, sauces which are not fresh. Food at some places is prepared unhygienically which can cause bacterial infections in kids.

3. Drink Plenty of Fluids

Drinking the good amount of fluids in the form of water, herbal teas, juices, coconut water, buttermilk, soups helps the body stay hydrated. Sufficient fluids help in flushing out toxins from the body. Also, it is useful for better digestion and absorption of nutrients which provide better resistance power to the body.

4. Increase consumption of Fruits and Vegetables

If you have weak immunity, you are more prone to catching cold and cough and fall sick. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables provide antioxidants like vitamin C, selenium, beta-carotene which helps fight back the infections.

5. Adopt Good Hygiene Practices

We invite a lot of infections due to eating with dirty hands. Make sure you wash hands and dry them properly before eating food. Generally, in this weather, it is difficult to dry clothes completely and sometimes moisture remains in it. This invites infections and skin allergies. Make sure you give dry heat or iron clothes before using them.

Enjoy the Rainy Season in a Healthy & Nourished way.
